Air suspension on Navigator

The air suspension is the item most Navigator owners eventually meet. Air springs are rubber, rubber ages, and a leaking spring makes the compressor run more and more to keep the vehicle level until the compressor itself gives up.

The tell is a corner that sits low overnight and comes up after you start it. Catching a leaking spring before it kills the compressor is the difference between one repair and two.

Spark plugs and cam phasers on the Triton V8s

On the 5.4 litre Triton, the spark plug design on certain years is well known for breaking on removal and leaving part of itself in the head, which turns a maintenance job into an extraction job. Cam phasers, the units that vary valve timing, are the other item, and they usually announce themselves as a rattle at start up or a rough idle.

These are jobs where technique and the right tooling decide the outcome. We have done a lot of them.

EcoBoost engines

On the turbocharged EcoBoost V6, timing chains and the cooling system are the items worth knowing. Based on our reading and what we see, a stretched chain gives warning as a rattle before it gives trouble.

As with any turbo engine, oil interval and oil condition are doing more work than the schedule makes them look.
